Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

Saturday, May 5th

in Arivaca!

Special foods, crafts, migration birding, a party at La Gitana with live music, a special program at the Old Schoolhouse ~ come on down!

Panchita’s authenticos fresh tamales, empanadas and tortillas; Clara and Rudy’s bean tostadas; tarot card readings; and a piñata and craftmaking of rice Maracas for the kids. That’s only part of what’s planned to celebrate Cinco de Mayo at First Saturday in Arivaca, Arizona on May 5. Make a weekend of it and book a stay at Arivaca’s newest addition – a furnished suite with queen sized bed, bathroom with Jacuzzi, and WiFi for $85/night (two-night minimum) located at the Arivaca Action Center at 15925 Universal Ranch Rd. To make reservations call 520-591-0582.

Marian’s Farmers’ Market will be open 9 to noon with artisanal goat cheese, homemade breads and fresh produce from the Arivaca Community Garden. The Arivaca Library will present a program on Arizona’s Civilian Conservation Corps and our National Parks and Forests by landscape historian Robin Pinto, at the Old Schoolhouse at 11:00 am. And there will be a Cinco de Mayo Patio Party with live music starting at 7 pm at La Gitana Cantina, named by Esquire magazine readers in 2011 as one of the Best Bars in America. Also open: the Arivaca Artists’ Co-op; Cactus Rose Art Gallery; Gadsden Coffee Company; Arivaca Ceramics; and Sweet Peas Café.
